Why protect a major investment?
Home owners spend billions of dollars a year buying and taking care of a major investment, their HOMES. Yet they forget about the silent, destructive TERMITE. There are two types of homes/properties in Oklahoma. The type that already has termites and the type that will eventually get termites.
Termites alone can cause thousands of dollars in damage to one property, home and/or business if left unnoticed and untreated. One way to help manage and prevent termites is to have an annual inspection performed on your home and/or property. If we, as consumers, know that there is a problem early, then we have a better opportunity to help rid the home of this seriously devastating wood destroying insect.
It's funny because property owners think that the only time to worry about termites is in the spring (understandably). Spring is typically when termites can be observed and are noticed by a property owner. The reason for noticing the winged wood destroyers (swarmers) is that they fly in swarms dispersing and starting new colonies (mating). Spring triggers the swarmers with warmer temperatures and rainfall causing them to emerge into the air. But don't be fooled, termites DO still exist and eat during cooler months - they do not go dormant.
Knowing you have termites and waiting to have the property treated will cause more damage, which results in more money and time invested to treat the problem. Pretending we don't know about the problem will not make the termites go away. We all like to save a buck or two, but when dealing with termites you need to have the property inspected and treated. Most importantly, don't forget to follow up with an annual inspection. Maintaining an annual inspection not only gives you peace of mind, but helps prevent any further damage that can wreak havoc in one's largest investment.
Not knowing that you have termites can be devastating and costly in the long run. You and your realtor at one time or another spent hours, days, weeks, months or maybe even years looking for the perfect home for you and possibly a family or family to be. You have already invested thousands of dollars in mortgage payments and insurance. You have painted walls and remodeled bathrooms, but you haven't kept up your annual termite inspection. All of the sudden, the paint is flaking off and wood seems to be deteriorating before your eyes. WHAT IS WRONG? YOU HAVE TERMITES!! You stop and think to yourself, "If only I had kept up my annual inspection, then the termite company would be treating this area of infestation for free." You carry insurance on your home for flooding and tornados, your family for possible hospitalization and your car for a cracked windshield. You also need protection from termites for your home.
WHY NOT PROTECT A MAJOR INVESTMENT (YOUR HOME) FOR TERMTES?
Maybe you have had your property inspected and the inspector cleared it for termites. If you do not renew your annual contract every year, where is your protection? A simple answer is that you do not have any protection. There isn't a termite professional that can see through walls without certain devices, but isn't some protection better than none?
